"Eyes, Ears And Minds Closed" or Why the Editor Won't See Reason

Everyone worth his salt knows that Outlook is hand in gloves with the current regime and its editor is at the top of the suck-up pyramid. Consider his predicament.

The market for Outlook is the middle class and the middle class is summarily against this quota madness. Normally, this magazine would have made a high pitch campaign and grossly demonized those who attack the position of their masters. But in this case, they have had to tread carefully lest they offend their main market. They have had two cover stories, trying to build up a case for quotas, obfuscating facts and equating it to affirmative action in the US. Since this has not done much to alter public opinion, the latest trick is to make the middle class feel apologetic about their stand.

That explains this stupid article. Rest assured, if Mr Mehta thought opposing reservations would serve his purpose, he would have done that with as much gusto, if not more.

Many people are trying to make him see reason; there are few things as futile as that. He is just doing his job!

P.S. I am hoping to do a few articles about the way media is used by the powers that be to manipulate public opinion once this quarter gets over.

Thanks for visiting.

I find this quota issue quite worrying. I wonder what kind of opportunties will be available to my son when he grows up in a world where merit seems to matter less and less.
